PRO-ESCALATION TEAM ARE NOT HAPPY CAMPERS

>

Cheney told Senate Minority Leader Mitch "My Bitch" McConnell to make sure there was no vote in the full Senate on the toothless, symbolic nonbinding Biden resolution that gently tells Bush the Senate doesn't agree with his escalation of the war in Iraq. McConnell's #2, Trent Lott, admitted to the Washington Post yesterday that even if Cheney isn't cognizant he and McConnell are aware of the new post-November facts on the ground.

The Republican fallback position is a list of fake benchmarks that Bush "has to" meet. What a joke! If this stuff gets any more watered down even McCain and Lieberman will vote for it. (UPDATE: McCain supports fake benchmarks.) One of the Repugs aware that voters back home are adamantly opposed to more and expanded war, George Voinovich (who just watched his mini-me soundly defeated by Sherrod Brown 2 months ago) is torn between his accustomed rubber stamp posture and a fear that he may have to seek honest employment next time he faces the voters if he's on the wrong side of this one. "What we need is to put together a list of benchmarks that are tough and measurable, with requirements that the administration report back on the progress" was the trial balloon he floated today, after voting against the nonbinding symbolic Biden thing.

Biden really screwed the pooch on this one. It was stupid to compromise and compromise and compromise and then end up with a ridiculously weak resolution that says nothing and that will be supported by-- at most-- 3 Republicans, probably two and may not even get all the Democrats! Biden is the worst excuse for a leader I've ever seen in my life. 70% of the American people oppose the escalation but he's so accustomed to taking it up the ass that he can't even straighten up and stand like a man for once in his miserable, sniveling life!

Doesn't McCain look presidential in the picture? Where's Lieberman? I thought those two girls don't ever pose without each other these days.
