FAR RIGHT RELIGIOUS WHACKO SENTENCED TO 9 YEARS IN NEW ZEALAND. WHEN WE WILL DEAL WITH OUR OWN??

Please don't think that the only religious whackos that menace society are crazy fundamentalists in backward places like Afghanistan, Virginia, Saudi Arabia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Pakistan, Egypt, Florida, Kuwait, Louisiana, Georgia, Yemen, Indonesia, the Carolinas and places where most sane people would never want to get anywhere near. Oh no, wherever religionist fakers are allowed-- or encouraged-- to spread their poison in the name of whatever "God" or gods they claim has empowered them to take your money and pay attention to their hatred and bigotry, Society is in grave danger. Even in a relatively civilized, secular and moderate place like New Zealand, a world away from the psychotic monsters like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, George Bush, James Dobson, Osama bin-Laden, Tony Perkins, masquerading as spokesmen for "God"-- evil and perverted men prey on the weakest among us using a sick conception of "religion" mixed with hatred, bile and prejudice. Meet Graham Capill, an ordained minister and the first leader of New Zealand's right-wing Christian Heritage Party. Raised a Presbyterian, Capill chose the Anglican Church because he claimed his own is too accepting of "false teachers and those who are sexually permissive." The biggest hallmark of his ministry and of his political career has always been his rabid condemnation of "sexual perversion."

This past April Capill, who is married and has 10 children, pleaded guilty to indecent assault against an 8-year old girl. Capill spent years as a sexual predator, serially molesting young girls while preaching moral rectitude from the pulpit and trying to move New Zealand politics rightward in the kind of direction advocated here by hypocrites like Bill Frist, George Bush and Dick Cheney. For one girl, being sexually abused by Capill forms her earliest childhood memory. For another, Capill was the minister at the Christian college she attended, and she recalls the groping that began when she was eight. He tried to portray it as a "game" but by the time it ended, the abuse had escalated to rape.

Whether he was attacking women's rights to an abortion, railing against gays and lesbians or screaming about the outrages of permissive art by native Maoris, Marilyn Manson, Keith Haring or on SOUTH PARK, Capill was always portraying himself as moral watchdog and guardian of family values.
He sounds almost exactly like James Dobson or any other crooked preacher trying to claim he's the pipeline to "Gawd" and people must do what he says (and, oh, by the way, put some money in the collection dish or you'll rot in hell for eternity).

Today, Capill was sentenced to 9 years in prison for multiple sexual offenses against minors, including rape. Like any upstanding rightwinger would do, Capill has tried to turn the tables and paint himself as a victim instead of a predator and child rapist. In an e-mail he sent to supporters in his right-wing party, he tried to downplay his actions by suggesting the sexual abuse with one of the girls was consensual. "The law, as it has been explained to me, seems so different to what the Biblical law and indeed common perceptions are of rape. The fact that [the 8 year old victim] consented is irrelevant."

Now, back to Karl Rove, Noe, Ney, Lay, Cunningham, Bush, Schwarzenegger, Taft and the whole crew of right-wing Republican crooked pols we have to deal with right here in the good old U.S. of A.
